Why Belgian ornamental horticulture?
The Belgian production value of ornamental plant products has risen in recent years, to 590 million euros in 2018. With this, our Belgian sector of flowers and plants shows a growth of 6% compared to 5 years earlier.
With a world share of around 45%, Belgium is the number one exporter in the world with its Azaleas.
This places Belgium among the top 5 floriculture exporters in Europe and among the top 10 in the world. Thanks in part to its central location in Europe, our country plays an important role in the worldwide trade of flowers and plants.
